Whilst travelling through the city, one might come across the names of players that are showing in blue. These players are 'wearing' what is called the Battlecloak. This item was introduces after some nasty arguments over the 'resting rules', also referred to as 'Torpor' by some in the Ravenblack roleplaying community. I shall not go into the finer details of torpor here, just that the battlecloak means a character wearing it will not be able to drink or attack other vampires in the city before a certain amount of BP has been reached again (hit me with a stick for not knowing the exact amount of BP at the moment ) nor can others attack that vampire during this time of regaining the needed BP to come out of torpor.Whilst some names will show blue, other names will show pink, or reddish sort of, and those showing pink/reddish are vampires who have chosen the power of Neutrality (check Guilds and Power thread on this board for further explanation), which means they can not be attacked nor can they attack others (use of Holy Water and Garlic Spray) and also, if one steals from such a vampire, one will get less than if that vampire would not have Neutrality.I decided to explain this as I was approached by someone new to the city who thought coloured names would indicate those players would be online, which is not the case - nothing will show whether a player is currently online, other than whether he or she is moving his or her character.
